Hey, notice you have no review of Mallard's Bistro. Is it no longer open? I'm originally from Grays Harbor and used to work for Niels Tiedt. It was a two man kitchen, just us side by side putting out food I'd stack up against any food anywhere. Worked for him for almost four years. He's got his issues but the man is the real deal. He's a grumpy old Euro-chef (originally from Denmark) If he's still in business you need to give the man a proper shout out. In the 60s Craig Claiborne named him one of America's top 10 young chefs. He's a local treasure.

I loved this review and can't wait to try La Salvadorena. I can't believe I have driven by that little place so many times and not stopped in. Your review makes my mouth water. Thanks

Wife here… I agree with everything but the oysters. And the razor clams. I keep trying both but just can’t seem to like either. This is coming from a woman who grew up on the harbor and HATED seafood until in her 30s. Yes, hated. I guess it took many years living inland to appreciate what I was missing. Since those dark, early, ignorant decades I have grown to love the stuff, even sushi, but am still struggling with oysters and razor clams. Having said that, I do like the clam chowder and clam strips at Breakwater to the point that I sometimes crave them. And about the taco salad… skip it and order something fishy!
